Happy Anniversary, YsLink!

I truly can’t believe it’s been over a year since YsLink first launched. I fell hard for this franchise, and that passion has not abated in the slightest since.

The past year saw us interviewing indie developers, previewing Ys vs. Trails in the Sky, and highlighting community members.

I’m so thankful for all the support folks have shown and excited for what the next year has to bring, so I wanted to highlight what to expect from YsLink in the near future.

My goals:

  1. Really focus on the “Link” is YsLink
  2. Build up a stronger social media presence
  3. Continue fleshing out information

#1 The “Link” in YsLink

Goal #1: My Resources page is woefully inadequate. But more than that, it doesn’t quite achieve what I want it to.

Part of making this website was to create something that was different than the normal Ys fan website. Between Digital Emelas, Beyond Ys, and the Ys Wiki, there’s already a lot of high quality, reliable content out there.

But what I noticed was that, at least in the circles I frequented, the Ys community did not seem as well-connected as the Trails community.

One thing I’d love to have YsLink do is help highlight people and things in the Ys community that are really unique or cool. Artists, coders, theorists. I want it all.

I also want to find the best resources on the web for each game, whether it’s asset collections, useful guides, or anything else.

So, yeah. This is my #1 goal for 2026.

#2 Social Media

I am, to put it mildly, not very good at social media.

So I do genuinely consider it quite a coup to have racked up over 200 followers in the last year.

But I want to try and better use the platform I’m building in the same vein as the previous goal. How can I use YsLink to give back and strengthen the Ys community? How can I be more interactive and engaging?

These are the questions I want to at least try and answer in the coming year.

Also, hitting 500 followers would be a sick stretch goal.

#3 Information

I’m constantly tinkering with the website, and so a tertiary goal is to just continue adding information.

For instance, I recently added a ton to the Characters page, but I still don’t have individual pages for every playable character. I want to fix that.

I’d also like to add more about lore (especially Romn) and give each game’s story a quick, collapsible summary. There is such a wealth of information out there in the Ys universe, and I want to catalogue it as best as possible.

In Conclusion

I feel just so overwhelmingly thankful to the Ys community for welcoming me and engaging with me so readily. It’s been a blast, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us all.

Here’s hoping for more news on Ys XII soon!
